Residence & Citizenship

UK

UK citizenship is one of the most popular choices – it’s a country that offers a rich culture, traditions and history, and has a distinctive “British way of life”, which many people feel comfortable with.

The UK has long encouraged diversity and an entrepreneurial spirit where new ideas and innovation are welcome.

UK Citizenship

The United Kingdom is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and is an island in north west Europe. It is a hub for international travel and also has one of the largest networks of Double Taxation Treaties in the world.

The UK has a legal system that has been adopted across an extensive number of countries and an education system that is envied
across the world.

It is an era of change and new opportunity in the UK, since leaving the EU at the end of 2020. The way in which people are able to move to the UK from another country in Europe and vice versa has changed. Please contact us to find out more.

An attractive ‘remittance basis’ of taxation is available for UK non-doms.

Potential Tax Advantages When Living in the UK

The remittance basis of taxation allows UK resident non-UK domiciliaries, with funds outside the UK, to avoid being taxed in the UK on the gains and income that arise from these funds. This is as long as the income and gains are not brought into or remitted to the UK.

Clean capital, that is income and gains earned outside the UK before the individual became resident, and that have not been added to since the individual became resident in the UK, can be remitted to the UK, with no UK tax being liable.

The UK remittance basis of taxation is available for up to 15 years.

To maximise the tax benefits available, individuals and families moving to the UK should speak to a qualified UK tax adviser, ideally before they move to the UK. Dixcart can help: contact us.
