Dixcart Legal Immigration Lawyer, Vincent Chung, provides a brief overview of what the end of the Brexit transition period (at 11pm on 31st December 2020), will mean for EEA nationals and UK employers, from a UK immigration perspective.
From 1st January 2021, EU free movement rules will no longer apply in the UK. This means that EEA citizens will no longer have the automatic right to come to the UK to live and work. For UK employers, who regularly recruit from EEA, this may mean applying for an appropriate sponsor licence to minimise business disruption. From the 1st January 2021, UK employers can offer sponsor work to EEA nationals – under the skilled worker or inter-company transfer categories, which are both live from 1st December 2020. Please note specific criteria must be met and you should always speak to a UK immigration lawyer: email@example.com.
